An aneurysm is the enlargement or bulging of an artery wall due to weakness and thinning of the arterial tissue. Over time, this ballooning can expand, making the aortic wall thinner and more fragile. Aneurysms typically develop in the thoracic aorta (chest), abdominal aorta, or pelvic arteries in the legs.
When an aneurysm occurs in the thoracic section of the aorta, it is referred to as a Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm (TAA).
